Irish Rail's €350m Glasnevin Design-and-Build Contract Dominates This Week's Procurement

This week's standout Irish public tenders — what to watch and where the deadlines fall.

Iarnród Éireann has gone to market for a €350m design-and-build contract covering enabling works at the critical DART+ and MetroLink interface at Glasnevin, making it the standout notice of the week. Close behind, the National Transport Authority is seeking a €43.6m programme oversight and assurance partner for the MetroLink programme itself, meaning the two notices together define the shape of Ireland’s most ambitious rail investment.

Construction

Respond Ireland leads the sector with a €35m responsive repairs and voids framework spanning Donegal, Sligo, Mayo, Roscommon and Leitrim, closing 14 August — one of the larger social-housing maintenance packages seen this year. South Dublin County Council’s €6m works contract at Grange Cottage on the Grand Canal Way and a €5m school-build for Longford and Westmeath ETB at Ardscoil Phádraig in Granard round out a solid week for contractors in both residential and education construction.

Iarnród Éireann’s €350m Glasnevin enabling-works contract — covering the DART+ and MetroLink interface — is the headline notice, with no deadline yet published, signalling an early-market-engagement or pre-qualification stage. Donegal County Council’s more modest tender for an 8,000-litre fire-service water tanker, closing 13 August, is a practical reminder that fleet procurement runs in parallel with the megaprojects.

Professional Services

The National Transport Authority’s €43.6m contract for programme oversight and assurance on MetroLink is one of the largest professional-services notices in the Irish market in recent memory, and no deadline is yet published. Further down the scale, Fingal County Council is running a joint €3m digital-for-business consultancy framework with Dublin City Council’s Local Enterprise Office, closing 4 August — a useful panel opportunity for smaller advisory firms.
